Dee's active upbringing and love of physical activity was disrupted by severe health issues in her teens.
The road to recovery began with the good fortune of experiencing her first health retreat experience. This wholistic approach was a revelation which sparked the direction of her future education and employment.
The emotional impact of the early death of her beloved father further consolidated her belief in the practice of mind and body harmony.
She experimented in a variety of yoga traditions, healing dance, personal ritual and extensive world travel, to become the free spirited aware global citizen she is today.
For the past 20 years she has worked hard to create opportunities which have allowed the fusion of her life's passions - yoga & travel - to become her default lifestyle and business - Retreats for Life.
In 2014, Retreats for Life Founder & Director Ms. D Ritterman noticed the need for quality intimate retreats in unique settings (particularly in the southern hemisphere), and she began to realize her vision of presenting opportunities to disconnect from hyper-communication and reconnect with nature, culture and experience.

Dee's nomadic lifestyle and daily yoga practice have facilitated her connections with international like-minded souls and given her a sense of world community. She volunteered time and skills in exchange for yoga classes and retreat programs and has practiced a variety of yoga styles with renowned teachers in more than 20 different countries, often in languages she does not speak.
Dee was invited by the Director of the Southern Institute for Yoga Instructors (SIYI) to complete an intensive 300hr Yoga Teacher Training course in the style of Precision Alignment Yoga™ in Deland, Florida USA.
Dee has been awarded with a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Certification, together with a prestigious ongoing invitation to join the teaching team of Return to the Source Yoga Satsang School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Since completing these internationally accredited Yoga Instructor certification's she has shared her knowledge and teachings through specialized workshops, retreats and private classes in many wonderful places, including Sweden & Laos.
She developed her unique teaching style: balancing disciplined anatomical alignment with flowing choreographed fun, united by the focus of the breath.
As a teacher she is known for inspiring and empowering her students with her vivacious and playful personality, open mind and inclusive approach to learning, teaching and life.
